Common controls

The report configuration dialog contains a tab control with property pages which are related to different report types, standard buttons and a set of controls that are common to all report types.

The following controls make up the common area of the configuration dialog:

·       “Date filter” controls - set date range using date controls. Only those QSOs that satisfy the condition will be selected for the report. To ignore the filter, set check box values to TRUE.

·       Margins” button - shows the margins configuration dialog.

·       “Header” button - shows the header configuration dialog. You can set header strings in the dialog.

·       “Data source” combo box - selects a data source for the report. It can be either main log or one of the grid tabs.

Using this feature you can create a set of QSO records by manually adding records to the grid tab or by using the search engine. QSOs from the grid tab will be used to create the reports if you make the tab a data source by selecting it in the combo box.

·       “Output” combo box - some reports can put QSOs into grid tabs. It can be handy if you want to alter the set of contacts selected in a report.  For example, select first grid tab as an output for the report and launch DXCC application form. QSOs selected for the report will be placed in grid tab number 1. Then you may want to change the QSO representing, say, Sweden in your application form. You can remove Swedish radio station and replace it with another one. Then launch the report again and specify tab 1 as the data source. You will see exactly the same report as before but now another HAM will represent Sweden in your application form.

We recommend you to practice this technique, as it may well be very useful when making applications for different awards.

The common area of the dialog is always accessible from any property page. Some controls can be disabled, as they may not be used in all report types. For example, "Margins" button will be disabled in the common area when editing QSL labels configuration. QSL Labels property page has it's own button for editing margins which are different from those used for other reports.
