Additional functionality specific to log editing grid is added to this control. You can select cells the same way you select cells in any grid in the log. Two context menus can be used with the main grid.

List of columns in the main grid

·          Date () - allows the user to change the date of the QSO. Date format can be set using the configuration dialog. To invoke the date edit dialog press F7 or the cell’s button when in edit mode.

·          Time (text) - edit time of the QSO. Time format can be changed using the configuration dialog.

·          Call (text) - edit call signs in this column. After you confirm the changes made in the cell by pressing Enter the award manager will start parsing the call sign and recalculating award values. If you press Ctrl+Enter, in addition to triggering the award manager's actions, the search engine will be launched to search for all previous QSOs with the same call sign.

·          Award columns ( or ) - after you have finished editing a call sign, the award manager will recalculate all dependent award values and fill arrays of valid values for the current row. You do not have to change default values set by the award manager. To alter default values press F7 or the cell’s button to show a combo box or a look up dialog. If only one valid value for the award can be set for selected row the award cell will have the dialog button () otherwise the combo box button () will appear. The combo box contains a list of valid award values plus “…” item. Select it to show the look up dialog. You can select any value from the dialog including invalid values. Be careful when overwriting default values – you have to be sure that the value you enter is correct. Cells in award columns can have different colors of the text and background. The following examples explain each case (IOTA fields). Note that colors of cells background and text can be defined in the Colors configuration dialog.

§          Invalid value of the award

§          Multiple valid entries available for the given award (user can select any one from the list)

§          Award value overwritten by the user

·          Band and mode columns () - Band and mode are set in these columns. The configuration dialog allows the user to specify any number of modes and bands. You can set different properties for bands and modes including default RS(T)s and visibility.

·          Signal report sent and received (text) - Default values for these fields can be defined in the configuration dialog

·          QSL sent and received () - The user can choose any of the available items from the combo box by pressing the cell button or selecting “Y” or “N” from the combo box (“J”-“N” for German version of the log, “O”-“N” for French etc)

·         Operator () - Data for the combo box is taken from the configuration parameters set in the configuration dialog. The field could be useful if the log is used by a club station. The number of operators is not limited and can be modified freely.

Cooperation with other windows

The broadcast system used in 59+ Log QSOs provides synchronization mechanism for updating windows of the log. You can also use the following windows to modify QSOs:

·         QSO details grid

·         Grid tabs

·         Roll up dialogs

Hide and show columns

If you click with the right mouse button on the horizontal button bar at the top of a grid, a special popup menu will appear. It contains the list of all columns used in the grid.

By checking or unchecking items in the menu you will show or hide columns in the grid. Each time you close the application current settings will be saved to configuration file. Next time you open the log, columns will appear as you configured them in the previous session. For more information on configuring 59+ Log follow this link.

You can also use the configuration dialog to show or hide columns in the main grid or grid tabs.

Other useful actions can be carried out using main grid shortcuts and main grid context menus.
